Welcome to Industry 4.0.
With current manufacturing technologies and trends centering around Industry 4.0, it made the theme for the 16th Annual Missouri Manufacturing Summit presented by Wiese USA (Summit) unanimous. The Summit event was held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center in Independence, Missouri. This event was preceded by the Made in Missouri Leadership Awards (MMLAs) and the Manufacturing for Women Conference pre-events on Tuesday, September 24, 2019.
We’ve all read or seen the stories about major companies falling victim to data breaches or other cyberattacks. As today’s technology advances, so does the likelihood that this technology is vulnerable to cyberattacks. Morning Keynote presenter Lisa Baez, Sector Information Security Officer with Northrop Grumman, shared her experiences as an IT leader and offered practical tips to avoid a cybersecurity horror story during her keynote presentation “Cybersecurity Risks in Industry 4.0 & How to Enhance Your Security”.
Attendees were also given a glimpse into how these emerging technologies are currently being implemented into Missouri manufacturing facilities during the afternoon keynote presentation by Ronnie Wilson, Lead Technology Project Manager with GKN Aerospace. As the leader in technology development, Wilson gave an overview of their company’s development of technologies due to Industry 4.0, gave an in-depth focus on their US based developments and an overview of their key investments in Technology Centers.
Industry 4.0 remained the focus of this event during two (2) sessions of breakouts where six (6) presenters covered materials pertaining to the manufacturing industry. Breakout sessions touched on Automation, Cyber Risks, Utility Innovations & Infrastructure Investments, Unclassified Information in Nonfederal IT Systems, Banking Changes in Industry 4.0 and Technology Project Implementation Grants.
The Missouri Manufacturing Summit was concluded with the celebration of three (3) companies during MAM’s annual Founder’s Awards Ceremony. The Founder’s Awards were created as a way of paying tribute to MAM’s founder, the late Jack T. Gentry, and are presented annually to MAM member companies that are preserving the manufacturing tradition in Missouri. This year’s recipients included:
• Boone Center Inc
• Holloway America
